Former Orlando Pirates mentor, Tinkler has been fired after a string of poor results that has seen the team of choice pick up zero points this season, after four DSTV Premiership matches.
Tinkler’s side also bowed out of the MTN8 tournament after being beaten by Kaizer Chiefs in the quarter-finals. Close to Maritzburg, Tinkler met with the club management this morning where both parties agreed to go separate ways.
After saving the club from relegation at the end of the 2018/2019 season, Tinkler managed to transform the side into a formidable team. However, since the PSL bio-bubble was introduced in August, the team has been struggling to pick up positive results.
Tinkler’s overall record reads, played 57, won 23, drew 13, lost 21 at a rate of 1,44 points per match.
It was also reported that Maritzburg United parted ways with assistant coach Vincent Kobola last month before bringing in Delron Buckley to replace him and Rowen Fernandez as goalkeeper coach.
