The Empress South Africa pageant is described as the women empowerment contest that consists of various tasks and online challenges that uplift and empower young women and their communities. Despite living with disability, Ayanda Mpumelelo has proven what can be done and achieved with determination and courage.
Some of the women She looks up to includes Television Presenter, Pearl Modiadie. “When I saw her on TV I would look at her and be like , you know what I’m gonna be like her. It is also my passion to be on Radio and Television industry. She is just amazing,” she mentioned.
Mpumelelo mentioned that she also looks up to Supreme Majesty of Empress South Africa Annikie Rabohlale. “That woman is beautiful, smart, she’s a go getter, and she inspires you to be the woman that you are. She’s a bold woman, very courageous, so I love her spirit. She’s just a phenomenal lady,” she said.
Her future goals include furthering her studies in the media industry and continuing with modelling as it allows her to be the person she is.
Her advice to people living with disabilities who wishes to be models is that “I would tell somebody who has a disability to go for what they want, to never look down on themselves. We are important and you just have to be you. Find that thing that you love. We are all given gifts; there is something that you are good at as a person living with a disability. I also found mine, I love modelling, the sky is the limit,” she said.
She concluded by saying the Empress South Africa has helped her build her confidence and become the woman she was supposed to become.
