Along with law enforcement agencies, Gauteng Education MEC Panyaza Lesufi visited Wisdom English Private School in Ivory Park and the True Grace Christian School in Ebony Park situated in the East of Johannesburg, yesterday 08 October 2020.

The purpose of the visit was to verify allegations that both schools operated illegally. It was discovered that the schools were operating illegally as they are not registered with the Gauteng Education Department. It was also discovered that Wisdom English Private operates in four different locations in the area, a number of educators failed to provide legal identification documents that allows them to practice as teachers. Those educators and Principals from both schools were taken to the police station for further questioning.

Officials were given about 48 hours to give the MEC necessary information in order to make an informed decision about the way forward. Lesufi was not happy with the discovery and the conditions which are not conducive for teaching and learning at both schools. He assured parents that officials from the department will work tirelessly to ensure their children secure placement at other schools in the event of a closure of the two schools.
